Director / Cinematographer / Editor

Description:

The Director/Cinematographer/Editor position focuses on digital video shooting and editing for the production of video based special projects for lynda.com; utilizing expertise in videography, Final Cut Pro editing suite, as well as experience with audio enhancement, video compositing and compression software. This position joins an established production team as it expands its scope. Must be a self-starter across a broad range of production – from development to acquisition through post production and delivery. Must be a proven storyteller able to develop compelling content.

Principle Accountabilities:


Promotional Content:
  • Film, edit, and deliver promotion content such as: course intros, customer testimonials, product demonstrations, etc.
  • Work with the Training Producer to understand the goals and learning objectives of each course and develop effective content that communicates these goals and objectives in a way that encourages and excites viewers to watch the course.
Educational Content:
  • Work with production team to film, edit, and publish new live action-based educational content.
  • Help determine camera, lighting, and production strategy in a studio-based environment.
  • Assist with editing all video content, working closely with the production team to ensure they meet the overall vision and aesthetic.
Documentary Content:
  • Work with the Producer to understand the vision and goals of each documentary project and work with the team to develop inspiring content.
  • Help determine camera, lighting, and production strategy.
  • Travel to the various locations for shoot footage of featured subjects. 
  • Edit footage, working closely with the production team, to develop compelling story lines.
Special Live Action Projects:
  • Work with production team and lead development for various internal corporate projects.
  • Take lead on location coverage of special events including planning and off-site logistics.

Experience and Qualifications:


  • 2-4 year degree in Video/Film or other related field or equivalent work experience in video, film or multimedia production.
  • Experience with using Apple Final Cut Studio; Final Cut Pro, Motion, Soundtrack pro and Compressor.
  • Experience using professional format Digital Video Cameras (HD camera experience with P2 Cameras a plus).
  • Experience in a professional, fast paced, production environment.
  • Self-starting – ability to take ownership of a project from concept to delivery.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective internal working relationships and be able to work in a team setting.
  • Demonstrates the ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues.
  • Strong Macintosh and PC computer skills including troubleshooting and basic networking knowledge.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with and emphasis on attention to detail.
